December, 1903, the world changed forever all within 12 seconds. The Wright brothers created a flying machine that parted man from Earth in a craft heavier than air for the first time under its own power, maintained forward motion without losing control, and landed on a plane of equivalent elevation as it’s starting point. 102 years later the same machine the Wright brothers contrived takes off every few minutes with varying styles for all purposes.
My Ackerely project focuses on the evolution of the autopilot with the ultimate goal of being able to code my own autopilot demonstrated through a quadcopter. Through the academic year I have researched how the modern autopilot, which is so sophisticated that the fictional artificial intelligence Jarvis character of Marvel's Iron Man might not be as far fetched idea for the future of automations.
